Silence article

The article seems less about silence and more about appreciating obscure noises. I don't think I would have particularly enjoyed standing around with people trying to appreciate the random noises going on. I think I would prefer to enjoy silence alone, and if by silence you mean anything but actual silence which is what the article describes. It describes silence as a bunch of different noises like cars and nature and whatnot. Actual silence is achievable and I think it could be appreciated just as much but the author chooses not to talk about it. When I think of true silence I think of something like a sensory tank, but even that isn't true silence. Noise-canceling headphones is probably the easiest way to experience true silence. The article is honestly less about the concept of silence as art and more about details of the artist John Cage's life. Seems like a lot of people have appreciated his work but I'm not sure if I fall into that category. I think there are plenty of other artists that are more accomplished and less appreciated. It's pretty obvious to point out that anyone could make what he made with his piece 433. The main purpose of it seems to be to provoke people, which it clearly did. To be fair I haven't heard any of his actual music, which it seems he was also well known for. The part about him living next to John Lennon and Yoko

ono and asking them to turn down their music is pretty wild. I always forget how old the Beatles are and I wasn't expecting these two to overlap. Anyways thats that here's some memes.
